Let's Talk

Contact us today to discuss your next photographic projects.

Curating

At Moving Stills we believe that photography is the most contemporary, universal, approachable means we have to apprehend the world around us. It is not just a tool for photographers, but a powerful medium embraced by artists across disciplines. Despite its stillness, photography is anything but static. In the 200 years since its invention, it has undergone seismic transformations—and we are living through some of the most radical shifts today. That is why we named our business Moving Stills.

For us curating means bringing a work to life. We draw on our experience as photographers, editors, artistic directors, publishers, enablers and teachers. But foremost we draw on our passion for seeing a work meet its public, become and stay relevant. We only take on projects we believe in—those with creative and cultural and political potential. Once we commit, we immerse ourselves fully, exploring how a project can exist and thrive: as a book, an exhibition, a magazine feature, or a digital campaign. Just as importantly, we strategize how to fund it—through print sales, grants, brand partnerships, or commissioned work. At Moving Stills, we  we surround each project with a network of collaborators: connecting it with designers, publishers, institutions, galleries, editors, and thinkers in order to make it bloom.

Editing

Paolo and Lars are renowned experts in the field of editorial and book editing. As former photo directors of Kometa and GEO magazines, they have edited and commissioned countless stories on the most relevant issues of our time, working with some of the world's leading photographers. While Lars has advised many photographers on their book projects, Paolo has seen the editing process from both sides as the author of xx masterfully sequenced monographs.

Getting the editing and sequencing right is crucial to any photographic project. But editing your own work is one of the biggest challenges for professional photographers. Lars and Paolo offer valuable advice and expertise not only for photographers, but also for all types of magazine and book publishing and, of course, exhibition projects.
